When a cable does meet the requirements of Low Smoke wires materials?
In order to guarantee the safety of low smoke cables, but above all, in order to be sure that the cables can be really considered LSZH cables, all its materials have to meet many specific requirements about its content of halogens and the smoke and fumes density, that are ruled and constrained by following standards:
- pH value: accordingly to IEC 60754-2 and BS EN 50267-2-2
- conductivity value: consequently to BS EN 50267-2-2 & IEC 60754-2
- amount of halogen gas acid HCl, HBr, HF: EN 50267-2-1 and IEC 60754-1
- smoke density: accordingly to BS EN 61034-2 (zero emission cables)
- totally recyclable
These requirements of low smoke cables warrant the safety of human personnel during the evacuation of public area or private building in case of fire, by avoiding the poisoning or the death by suffocation and to facilitate the rescue operations thanks to reduced amount and toxicity of fumes.
